Montelupo is a town located in the Chianti valley in the Tuscany Region. Montelupo Fiorentino, in the heart of Tuscany, not far from Florence, has a long history of ceramics, especially "maiolica fiorentina", still produced in the town's artistic and manufacturing centre.
Local families and artisans have passed on the art of molding and decorating earth since the 14th century. The refined expression of the Florentine Renaissance and the creative freshness of "Arlecchini" mark the periods of greatest splendor. Since then ceramics from Montelupo have been exported all over the world.
